When he was young, Lu Xun often went to the root of the mud wall to catch crickets, often pulled up the continuous roots of polygonum multiflorum, and picked the thorny but sour raspberries for greed. The childlike innocence is always full of endless curiosity and deep desire. The small herb garden brings him endless happiness, and thus the young mind is bright.

而《狗·猫·鼠》中那只小小的却十分迷人的隐鼠是鲁迅小时的“墨猴”，时常陪伴在他左右，带给了他无穷的乐趣，家里人也十分喜爱它。面长妈妈却“误”将它踩死，还骗他说被猫给捉去了。

The little but very charming hermit mouse in Dog, Cat and Mouse is Lu Xun's little "Ink Monkey", who often accompanies him and brings him endless fun. His family also likes it very much. But his mother "accidentally" trampled him to death and lied to him that he had been caught by the cat.

《父亲的病》写了旧时的庸医治人，因而医死了鲁迅的父亲。鲁迅用《父亲的病》来表达他对庸医的痛恨与厌恶。
